The Project

Halton Region’s “Dundas Street Improvements” project will address traffic demands and provide safe travel options for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians, and includes road widening, new lookout points, new sidewalks, and new bike lanes. New improvements include the removal and replacement of the existing bridge structures over the CN Tracks and Bronte Creek.

The Challenge

In order to remove and replace the existing bridge structures and maintain the safe movement of traffic and pedestrians, a traffic control plan and phasing plan was required. Critical infrastructure such as the CN Trains and existing Bridge foundations required support to construct the initial phasing for the new Bridge foundations.

The Solution

Maple Site Solutions Inc. was retained by the Contractor to provide a cost effective and safe solution to retain the soils and existing structures to allow them to construct their new foundations. Maple Site Solutions Inc.  implemented multiple earth retention solutions such as a secant wall, soldier piles and lagging and shotcrete shoring to meet the demands of the project and contractor.
