The Project
McMaster University Engineering is home to the largest undergraduate Engineering research program in Canada. The University recently completed an addition to the Applied Dynamics lab, which is the centre for large-scale structural engineering at McMaster University.
The Challenge
To maintain access, and construct an easier access elevator to meet Ontario’s AODA, a deep foundation solution was required from grade to allow a connection into the basement of the existing building.
The Solution
Due to the tight access shaft requirements and schedule, Maple Site Solutions Inc. implemented a secant wall with internal bracing to minimize multiple excavation and lagging sequencing to the base of the excavation.
