Due to Federal funding and increased requirements to update our existing aging infrastructure, the complete removal and replacement of the Ragged Creek Bridge was required.
The Challenge
To install a new bridge structure in very soft, saturated, dilatant silts. The requirement for the foundations included a new system which incorporates a cased T103 micropile. As this system was a new concept for the consultant and contractor, verification of the design and adhesion was of great concern.
The Solution
Maple Site Solution Inc. was successful in tendering this project and facilitated an extensive testing program and installed this system which met the loading and adhesion requirements of the drawings and specification.
